Community Education: County Louth VEC’s Community Education Service supports and assists new and existing community groups in County Louth in establishing community-based education programmes. Community Education programmes aim to help learners develop their self-confidence and educational skills base so that they can actively take part in their communities. The Community Education Service aims to prioritise learners who have had limited educational opportunities to date, or learners who are at a risk of social exclusion due to factors such as low-income, old age, disability, isolation, ethnic origin or cultural difference.
Adult Learning Service: Co. Louth VEC Adult Learning Service is a free and confidential service for adults who wish to improve their reading, writing, spelling or maths skills. Classes are designed to meet the needs of each learner. The Adult Learning Service provides a number of different tuition options from one-to-one to small group tuition and learners can work towards informal and formal qualifications. Day and evening classes are available.
Back to Education Initiative (BTEI): BTEI provides part-time flexible education programmes for young people and adults. The aim is to give people the chance to combine a return to learning with family, work and other commitments. BTEI classes are available to all those who have left full-time education. Priority is given to those whose education is below Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) level. Subjects/courses under BTEI include the following: Communications, Information Technology, Childcare, Leaving Certificate, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Art etc.
