| Co Louth VEC Annual Report Adopted |

At its most recent meeting Co. Louth VEC adopted its 2009 annual report. The report summarises the main activities of the organisation during 2009 and includes reference to financial and human resource matters, and provides an overview of VEC corporate governance procedures.
The annual report also includes a summary of the performance of each of the individual services provided by Co. Louth VEC including its schools, centres for education and adult, further and community education programmes. The key achievements of each service during 2009 are highlighted, as well as the key challenges that each service encountered. The report includes an introduction by the CEO of the VEC, Dr. Pádraig Kirk and a foreword is provided by its Chairperson, Cllr. Oliver Tully.
Speaking at the meeting committee member Cllr. Anthony Donohoe commended the work of the VEC for the wide range of activities and services that the organisation was involved in during 2009, “the report is a comprehensive compendium of the work of Co. Louth VEC during 2009 and will act as an excellent reference point for the committee, staff, parents, students and all partners in education”.
CEO of Co. Louth VEC, Dr. Pádraig Kirk stated at the meeting that the VEC were obliged under section 29 of the Vocational Education Amendment Act (2001) to produce each year and submit to the Minister for Education and Skills its annual report. He highlighted a number of key achievements within Co. Louth VEC during 2009 including the expansion of its range of programmes and courses, the sharp increase in the number of students and adult learners enrolled on its programmes, the very positive inspection reports across its schools and centres, the extension and refurbishments to its schools that were sanctioned by the Department of Education and Skills and the establishment of new boards of management for all its schools and centres for education.
“I am very pleased with all that the VEC achieved in 2009, our annual report captures very well the efforts and work of the organisation as a whole; I want to commend all VEC staff - management, teaching staff, administrative, ancillary and caretaking staff alike, for all their contributions to the organisation in 2009”.
