What is the Tara Education Centre?
Tara Education Centre provides education, vocational skills and personal development training to members of the Traveller community. A training, meal and childcare allowance may be available for learners.
Who is this service for?
The service is primarily aimed at members of the Traveller community who are aged 18 years and upwards. For many participants it is an opportunity to engage in a programme of learning that acknowledges and respects their cultural identity. It can also give a first chance to progress to further education.
What programmes does this service offer?
Tara Education Centre offers a wide range of FETAC modules from Level 3 to Level 5. Examples of programmes available include:
- Junior Cert English, Maths and CSPE
- English Reading, Writing and Maths
- Computers
- Communications
- Preparation for Work
- Arts and Crafts/Design
- Personal Development
- Food and Cookery
- Drama/Video Expression
