What is the Youth Service?

The Youth Service co-ordinates, supports and monitors youth activities within County Louth. The service works in partnership with a range of key providers of Youth Services including Youth Work Ireland (Louth), Foroige Youth Services, Drogheda and Dundalk Town Councils, Louth County
Council, Drogheda Youth Development, Cox's Demense Community and Youth Project and LouthLeader Partnership.

Who is this service for?

Any young person between the ages of 10-25 years and adult volunteers.

What does this service offer?

Examples of supports offered include:

  • Training opportunities for adult volunteers and young people
  • Information and advice on establishing a youth club
  • Financial support through grants
  • Co-ordinating and providing activities with approved national youth organisations.
  • Raising awareness of youth activities throughout the county.

Youth Club Registration

All Youth Clubs are encouraged to register with the VEC to assist the Youth Officer with the coordination of the Youth Service.  To date, there are 69 voluntary youth clubs registered.  By registering, clubs will recieve regular updates on training and development workshops, funding opportunities, educational courses and links to all the current developments in the Youth Work sector.

Funding Opportunities: Local Youth Club Grant Scheme 2011

Under this Scheme, one-off grants are being made available to local youth clubs/groups to assist with their development needs including supporting administration, programme and services costs.

Youth clubs/groups are invited to apply for one-off funding under one of the following two categories:

  1. Youth Work Club Grant or
  2. Youth Activity Club Grant.

The maximum grant available to any club is €3,000.

Closing date for receipt of applications is 30th September 2011.  Applications received after this date will not be considered in any circumstances.

Funding for this Scheme is being provided by the Youth Affairs Unit, Department of Children and Youth Affairs.
